Arm wrestling is a game that's probably as old as Father Time. Children and adults alike can spend hours testing skill and endurance. For the serious arm wrestler, there are even tournaments you can compete in. You can learn fundamentals of the sport from books and videos. Let's look at what to do if you find yourself in a losing position.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Remember that in arm wrestling, you must get your arm and body to move as one unit. Some people think that it's in the strength of the arm alone. But it's really the whole body strength that you need to use throughout the match. Stay focused on using your whole body strength if you want to come back from a losing position in arm wrestling.
Step2
Keep your arm locked in place, even when down in the losing position. Your arm should be locked at the elbow with your upper arm as close to your body as you can keep it. Line your body up behind your arm and press the full force of your back muscles into the shoulder and arm muscles.
Step3
Use rapid back muscle movements to throw your opponent off balance. Quick, jerky movements pushing forward with your back will give you an edge to come back from a losing position in arm wrestling. Be careful, though. Too much pushing forward might unlock your arm. You must keep your arm locked with elbow bent and upper arm pressed against your body.
Step4
Try to gain a hand advantage over your opponent. Get your hand to move over the top of his hand, if possible. This puts pressure on his wrist and weakens his grip. If you are competing in a tournament, however, check the rules before you compete. This move may be illegal in tournament competition.
