How to Train for an Arm Wrestling Tournament
If you have become frustrated with the lack of efficacy of regular gym equipment while training for an arm wrestling tournament, you will be happy to know that there is a simple, effective method that you can practice at home. Simple rubber resistance bands allow you to practice with constant tension throughout the entire movement of your arm, while resting your elbow on a table, like you would during an actual arm wrestling tournament.

1
Purchase some heavyweight rubber resistance exercise bands. While these bands are normally used for muscle training, they can be used to train for an arm wrestling tournament as well. Make sure you buy rubber resistance bands with a variety of strengths, soft grip handles and a mechanism that allows you to attach them to a door jamb.

2
Train the top roll, the hook and other effective arm wrestling moves, by attaching the rubber resistance bands to the top of a door. The high-set angle is important to simulate actual arm wrestling, because it creates both side and back pressure.

3
Set a table against the door, so that the table does not move when you begin to train with the bands. Table height is important for proper arm wrestling posture. You want your elbow to rest comfortably on the table while still maintaining a straight back. If you are uncomfortable, adjust the table height.

4
Grab the handle so that it simulates the arm wrestling move that you would like to practice. Experiment with the rubber bands until you find the resistance that works best for you. You can double up bands and add resistance as you gain strength and ability.

5
Begin practicing with yourself. You will find that the rubber resistance bands create a pressure similar to an actual opponent. Undoubtedly, you will see huge results during your next tournament.
