Driving a long distance to school or work each day may become a nuisance. It may not be enjoyable, and high traffic areas may bring on anxiety and nervousness. To make your commute more relaxing and enjoyable, there are a few things that you can do. It's better to relax during the commute to school or work than to feel unnerved and uneasy.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Check out some books on tape from your local library. If you enjoy books or listening to stories, this is a good option to relax during your commute. Listening to books on tape during the commute can get your mind off work or school as well as off any other troubles in your life.
Step2
Purchase a classical music compact disc or tape. Some studies show that classical music has calming effects on the brain.
Step3
Ask people at school or at work if you can start a carpool. One of the best ways to relax during your commute is enjoying another person's company. You can also benefit by starting a carpool because you can save money on gas, help our environment, and you can listen to someone else's problems instead of your own.
Step4
Understand that there is nothing you can do to alleviate the high traffic areas. If you do find yourself getting most upset each and every day while you are stuck in traffic, accept this and move on.
Step5
Remember that relaxing during your commute can lessen your chances of getting yourself into a car accident.
