Step 1
Determine the square footage of the area where you plan to pour the concrete by measuring precisely. To find the square footage, multiply the length by the width.
-
Step 2
Understand that concrete forms are made of rubber, steel, paper and plastic, depending on the concrete project. Steel forms are the most common forms used for flat work (sidewalks, patios and foundations).
-
Step 3
Know that rented forms come in widths that vary from 4 inches to 24 inches, depending on the steel gage. Know the thickness of concrete required for your project (to ensure the proper strength) to determine the inches of form you require.
-
Step 4
Find a distributor for rented concrete forms. Call 1-800-245-1333 to find a distributor in your area or check the Yellow Pages in your phone book for construction equipment. Ask the distributor if it will deliver the forms to your job site and pick up when you are finished with the job.
-
Step 5
Hire a professional, licensed contractor to do the form work for you if you're not familiar with pouring concrete. Ask him to teach you how to properly pour concrete with optimum results.
