Everyone learns in high school English class that William Shakespeare was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, England. This quaint market town that dates back to the medieval ages is a must-see for any Shakespeare enthusiast. Use the following tips as a guide to visiting Shakespeare's birthplace.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Purchase plane tickets. Stratford-upon-Avon does not have an international airport, but a flight into London makes the destination about 100 miles away. From there, rent a car and drive or take a train.
Step2
Book a hotel room. Try the Mercure Shakespeare Hotel, the Macdonald Alveston Manor or the Stratford Victoria. All of these hotels are within three miles of Stratford-upon-Avon. The average price for a room is about 100 English pounds.
Step3
Visit the home of Shakespeare's birth and where he spent a lot of his life at Henley Street. This tourist attraction has been open for more than 250 years. The house is open 7 days a week all year round. The cost is 7 pounds for adults, 2.75 pounds for children and 17 pounds for a family.
Step4
Check out Anne Hathaway's cottage. This is where Shakespeare's wife spent her childhood. This place is famous for its beautiful gardens. It's also open 7 days a week all year round.
Step5
Go to Mary Arden's and Palmer's Farm for a slice of 16th century life. This was Shakespeare's grandparents' home and where his mother grew up. There is a demonstration of a farmer's wife going about her daily chores. This site also has a seasonal café for hungry visitors.
Step6
Grab a bite to eat. Stratford offers a variety of dining options, from dinner theater to local pubs. The most famous pub is called the Dirty Duck.
