The tone and the personal touch of a funeral is often found in the musical selections chosen for the occasion. Aside from the eulogy, the music should be one of the more personal touches that tell who the deceased really was. It's easy to accomplish when you keep your loved one in mind.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Talk to others to find out if anyone knows of a favorite song that could be linked to the deceased. Some songs that seem "out of the ordinary" for funeral services have made touching tributes to loved ones.
Step2
Check websites like the Memorial Music Library for lists of music that can be used for funerals. You can listen to music especially chosen for funerals and memorial services, and can then purchase the songs at iTunes or another music download site.
Step3
Choose music that will comfort others. Some lyrics in songs tend to bring a peace and serenity. These songs generally are chosen because they remind the loved ones that they had the opportunity to know the deceased, love the deceased and now the suffering of the departed is over.
Step4
Select a song that can be identified with the person. For example, "Country Roads" may be just right for someone down to earth, that enjoyed the out of doors. Select songs that identify the person through either lyric or style.
Step5
Find a song that brings a happy memory of the deceased. It could be the first song that they danced to as a new husband or wife. It could have been a song that was playing when a spouse was met. Funerals are memorials to the departed. Let them bring fond memories.
