Things You'll Need:
- Window box
- Twigs of various sizes
- Garland
- Embellishment (ornaments, beaded garland, tree decorations, Christmas lights)
- Ribbon or a pre-made bow
- Wire
-
Step 1
Prepare the window box. Remove all the old plant life so that all that remains is the soil and compost. If your window boxes are brand new, all you have to do is fill them with soil in preparation for the plants or garland.
-
Step 2
Secure your garland. Plant a few twigs throughout the box, and then wrap your artificial garland around the twigs so that they stay in place. You can add as much or as little as you want, but making it fuller and spilling some over the sides will create a more realistic look to your window box.
-
Step 3
Add embellishments. When you make a Christmas-themed window box, the trick is to focus on the details. You can hang Christmas lights, ornaments and an ornamental garland to add color and variety to your window box. Heavy pieces need to be anchored with twigs.
-
Step 4
Take a bow. Once you're done with the embellishments, it's time to add a festive bow. You can either tie your own or buy one that was pre-made. Secure your bow to the base of your window box using wire and twigs.

Step 5
Admire your Christmas window box throughout the holidays.
