The Singapura cat is the native cat of Singapore. They are often called "drain cats" because they often take shelter in drains and roam the wilds and shelters of Singapore. They are fairly rare in this country still. The people of Singapore have no great fondness for cats, but they're popular with foreigners. They have only recently been imported to the US.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine the color of the coat of the cat. The Singapura cats that are in the US are mainly only ivory with brown ticking and white ticked with tabby markings. There are many other colors in Singapore.

  2. Step 2

Brush the coat with your hand. The fur will be short and silky but lying close to the skin.

  3. Step 3

Take a general look at the cat. The Singapura cat is a rather small cat, probably due to their deprived life. The body is muscular and it has medium length legs.

  4. Step 4

Examine the structure of the head. It has a rather round head with a short nose and a small muzzle. There is a definite strong chin on these cats. They have large pointed ears.

  5. Step 5

Look deep into their eyes. They will have one of the following colors: hazel, green, or gold. Their eyes are large and open and alert. The ears have an almond shape and are slightly slanted.

  6. Step 6

Feel the tail. These cats have a medium long tail and it has no kinks.

Tips & Warnings
  • These cats are quiet and loving. They love human company. They will feel most secure in a calm home atmosphere.
