Sometimes the same old vacation just won't do it any more. Nowadays a short trip away from home can be a good opportunity to enjoy a change of pace. If yearning for something scary, try spending a spooky weekend in Arizona. It doesn't even have to be the Halloween season to enjoy a haunting. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Check out Tombstone for lots of spooky experiences. Big Nose Kate's Saloon is apparently still home to plenty of cowboys who have been seen at the bar, the basement and even in doorways. The Bird Cage Theater houses lots of ghosts that have been seen by many a visitor.
Step2
Take a short trip to the outskirts of Tombstone to the OK Corral and it may offer a glimpse of both the Clanton brothers' and the Earp brothers' restless spirits. Tombstone has a bed and breakfast and a hotel, but it is advisable to reserve a room in advance.
Step3
Travel to Bisbee, which is reportedly one of the most haunted towns in Arizona. The Bisbee Grand Hotel has 2 spirits that reside there. The Queen Mine is reportedly where 3 murdered miners still frequent. There's even the Old Bisbee Ghost Tour for an after dark experience. Bisbee offers gourmet restaurants, art galleries and all sorts of accommodations.
Step4
Spend a weekend in Jerome, Arizona, also known as the "Largest Ghost Town in America." Whether checking out the Jerome Grand Hotel's wheezing and coughing spirit, or the ghost of the then-richest woman in town, Madam Jennie Banter, at the Inn at Jerome, this town has lots of hauntings. The Jerome Cemetery is also a hotbed of supernatural activity. Spend the night in one of their haunted hotels to complete the experience.

Tips & Warnings

  • Although Arizona is usually warm during the day, evenings can turn cool, so take a jacket for yourself and maybe one for any new ghostly friends you may encounter.
