Carp ponds have become very popular in garden landscape design. Carp are beautiful fish that are available in many different varieties and colors. Read on to learn more.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Create the proper habitat for your carp. Research all that is required to create and maintain a carp pond. Learn all about feeding and maintaining carp to ensure success and avoid wasting money on items you don't really need. Search the Internet or visit a local fishery center to find information.
Step2
Determine the size of the pond you plan to build. Carp tend to grow very quickly, so a large pond is best. Decide how many carp you will keep in your pond.
Step3
Choose a reliable filtration system. This is a vital element of your carp pond. If waste is allowed to build up, it will turn into ammonia and kill the carp within days. There are two basic types of systems: mechanical and biological. A mechanical filtration system removes solid waste, insects, dead algae and fish waste. A biological filtration system creates a nitrogen cycle that cleans the pond of any dissolved waste.
Step4
Build the pond. Visit local pond builders and suppliers to compare prices and purchase supplies. Decide if you will build the pond yourself or hire a contractor to do the job. If you hire a contractor, compare prices and ask for references.
Step5
Make the pond visually appealing. Shop for plants and flowers that are compatible with a carp pond. Add a waterfall or a fountain for water movement.
