How to Make Skin Balm Bars

It's not hard to make your own skin balm bars, with gentle oils and natural fragrances, that will make your skin feel, and smell, wonderful. Skin balm bars also can be made with essential oils, to provide soothing, aroma therapeutic experience. Read on to learn more.

Things You'll Need

• 2 oz. shea butter
• 2 oz. beeswax
• ½ oz. cocoa butter
• ½ oz. sweet almond oil
• ½ oz. apricot oil
• 1 tbsp. tea tree, jojoba or grapeseed oil
• 16 drops mandarin essential oil
• 16 drops geranium essential oil
• 16 drops lavender essential oil
• 4 oz. mango butter
• 4 oz. beeswax
• 5 oz. liquid oil such as grapeseed, tea tree or jojoba
• 2 tsp. essential oil, fragrance of your choice
• 1 lb. glycerin soap base (melt and pour, available at stores that carry soap-making supplies)
• 10 drops geranium essential oil
• 1 tsp. powdered rosemary
• 20 drops tea tree, jojoba or grapeseed oil
• 12 drops vitamin E oil
• 1/2 cup calendula blossoms

Instructions

Gentle Skin Balm Bar

1. Melt the shea butter, cocoa butter and beeswax in the top of a double boiler, with water simmering gently.

2. Add the sweet almond oil and the apricot oil.

3. Scent the mixture with the lavender, mandarin and geranium essential oils.

4. Fill molds or small containers and let the skin balm bars set completely.

Mango Skin Balm Bar

1. Melt the beeswax in one container.

2. Melt the mango butter and liquid oil in a separate container.

3. Combine both mixtures and mix thoroughly.

4. Pour into molds or small containers.

5. Allow the bars to set completely, before using.

Balm Bar for Problem Skin

1. Melt the glycerin soap base in a double boiler, with water simmering gently.

2. Add the remaining ingredients one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Add the calendula blossoms last.

3. Pour the mixture into molds or small containers and allow it to set.

Tips & Warnings

• Very small, sealable plastic containers make excellent soap molds. Once the soap is firm, it will pop out and you can re-use the plastic container.
