How to Live The Purpose Driven Life

Life is a gift. There are so many choices to make in life and our direction for career, family, friends and recreation can change at the drop of a hat. When we have a sense of purpose and direction, then we can be productive and fulfilled. Read on to learn more.

1. Live the purpose driven life by determining your focus statement. Take time to think about what you want your life to say about you. Write a statement for yourself that states what you want to contribute to the world and what you want to communicate. We all communicate in one way or another every day. Decide what kind of influence you want to have in your communication. Decide whether your life's communication with others will be good or bad, positive or negative and show love or hate.
2. Understand that nothing in life happens by accident. Motivation guides us as we live the purpose driven life. Some are motivated by negative emotions such as anger, fear, guilt or the need to acquire more things. Some are motivated by the need to please other people all the time. Decide what is important to you. Choose to be motivated by hope, courage, love and the knowledge that you are not an accident. You were created to contribute something good to society.
3. Know that to live the purpose driven life is not so much about jobs, hobbies or places you visit in your spare time. Make a decision to not just be pulled in to the status quo in the culture around you, but focus life with the purpose in mind of living in love, joy and peace as each day comes.
4. Remember that after we're gone it's not the stuff we leave behind that will matter for eternity. It will be what kind of character we had and the example we lived for others that will matter. If our only goal is to live the purpose driven life by acquiring fame and fortune, we may find that purpose rather empty in the end.
