Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Open the Dreamweaver program. Create a new file. From the toolbar, click on "File," then "New." Dreamweaver now pops open a screen which asks you what kind of website you want to build. Choose "Basic Page." Next click on the "Create" button.
Step2
Save this. Since this is your opening page of your website, its name should be "index.htm." Go to "File," click on "Save As" and save the page with that name. At this time, it's also a good idea to create a folder to put "index.htm" in as well as all your linking website files.
Step3
Begin to build your blank website. Type the title of your site on the blank screen. Click on "Window," and choose "Properties." Highlight the title text. Choose the font, size and spacing you wish to use.
Step4
Add some content to your site. You can once again use the "Properties" dialog under "Window" to change fonts, size and spacing. Remember to save often.
Step5
Now add background color. Create links to your favorite websites. Use the toolbar to make all these choices, and follow the directions on your screen. Once you understand how to do one process, the rest are all the same.
Step6
Pick some JPG images to spruce up your site. Place those images in the same folder as "index.htm." Then create the links to them.
Step7
Create metatags so the search engines can find your information. Click on "Insert" on the toolbar. Then click on "Head." Next click on "Description." Type in a sentence that describes your website. Repeat the metatag process to add keywords. Click on "Key Words" instead of "Description" this time. Type in up to ten words, followed by commas and a single space, that describe your website.
Step8
Save your work. Preview it. If the web page is the way you want it to look, upload it to your server.
