Things You'll Need:
-
Step 1
Get movies of Elvis's live concerts from throughout his career. In recent years, a great deal of footage from his performances, especially those in Las Vegas, has been digitally remastered. You'll see and hear the King with even greater clarity than earlier releases.
-
Step 2
Find collections of Elvis's appearances on classic television shows. These performances marked the beginning of Elvis's legendary music career and are not to be missed by the true Elvis fan. You may be able to pick up copies of these shows at a local store or through an online merchant.
-
Step 3
Get an idea of what movies to add to your collection by becoming familiar with the roles Elvis played during his film career. From 1956 to 1969, Elvis starred in thirty-one different movies, playing roles as diverse as a doctor in "Change of Habit" and identical cousins in "Kissin' Cousins."
-
Step 4
Purchase Elvis's movies on DVD. Many of his earliest and most popular movies, such as "Love Me Tender" (which features Elvis's premiere as an actor), have been re-released on DVD in recent years.
-
Step 5
Expect to settle for VHS versions of many of Elvis's less-popular movies. However, as technology progresses, you can expect that even films such as "Charro!" will be remastered and released on DVD in the near future.
-
Step 6
Shop around for a collection of Elvis's key movies. You may be able to save money by purchasing a special edition bundled set of his films on either DVD or VHS.
-
Step 7
Find used copies of Elvis's films online through auction websites or at your local audio/video resale store. This is a great way to save money, especially if you are not concerned about damage to the original packaging of the tape or DVD.
