Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Shop for a Tablet PC That Is Right for You
Step1
Determine the features that you need in a Tablet PC. Among the features that you will need to choose from are the processor speed, the amount of RAM and the size of the hard drive. Higher levels of these features, such as a faster processor or larger hard drive, will cost more, but may be required depending on how you will use your Tablet PC.
Step2
Decide if you need an internal optical drive in your Tablet PC. If you will need to access CDs or DVDs while you are on the road, an internal drive is more convenient than an external drive. Tablet PCs that do not have internal drives, however, weigh less than other Tablet PCs.
Step3
Decide if you need an incorporated keyboard. Convertible Tablet PCs are designed like laptop computers, but the screen can be rotated and folded down over the keyboard. Slate Tablet PCs, while being lighter than convertible Tablet PCs, do not include an incorporated keyboard.
Step4
Identify the software that you will need on your Tablet PC. While your Tablet PC will include basic productivity software, you may need specialized software depending on your field of work. Software can add to the total cost of purchasing a Tablet PC.
Step5
Compare the prices of Tablet PCs that meet your needs. This will let you form a short list of Tablet PCs for consideration when you start shopping.
Step6
Try using as many of the Tablet PCs from your short list as you can to see how comfortable you are using them. Most computer stores carry Tablet PC models that you can experiment with while shopping.
