How to Order Alcohol Tax Free
In the United States, it is nearly impossible to order alcohol tax free. The country's strict laws, which prohibit residents under 21 years of age from obtaining alcohol, make it difficult for anyone to order alcohol tax free. Unlike cigarettes, which can be sold by certain groups of Native Americans tax free, nobody has the right within the United States to sell alcohol with the tax free advantage.

Stop trying to find a United States-based website from which to order tax free alcohol, because it cannot be found. If such a site is found, there is a good chance it is not legal. A good bet is to try from within the United Kingdom. Europe's laws are still pending over the legality of selling alcohol tax free.

Rein in your expectations. The only alcohol within the United States that can be ordered tax free is ethyl alcohol, which is not for drinking. Even this requires a permit from the ATF bureau and can only be used by universities for scientific purposes.

Take time to peruse the in-flight duty free catalog on airlines that offer this service. Some of these duty free catalogs may offer alcohol, but not all of them do. When the flight attendant comes around with the duty free cart, order alcohol if it's available and take the opportunity to save a bit of money on the tax.

Order alcohol tax free when traveling abroad. If the amount of alcohol is for personal use and not over a certain amount allotted per person, it can be transported through luggage and brought into the United States legally.

Log on to Duty Free Booze, a website based in the United Kingdom (see Resources below). Alcohol, including beer, wine and spirits, can be ordered without the extra tax, but it can only be shipped within the United Kingdom. Orders from the site can be placed online or called in over the phone.

Tips & Warnings
Spend the extra money and buy alcohol with the tax included. If you reside in the United States and have no plans to travel abroad in the near future, it will save you time and a lot of hassle to just order alcohol the normal way--taxes included.
Realize that if you happen to find a place that sells alcohol without a federal alcohol tax, you can still be charged a sales tax.
