Cardio is hard enough as it is! Here are some simple steps to keep your feet from falling asleep on the elliptical trainer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Motivation
  • A good pair of running or cross-training shoes

Step1
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE SHOES. Make sure your cushioning isn't shot. A good running store will be able to tell you if your cushioning is warn out and should be able to recommend a good pair of shoes.
Step2
KEEP IT LOOSE. Your feet expand during exercise. Loosening your laces during elliptical use will help decrease nerve pressure.
Step3
PEDAL BACKWARDS. Pedaling backwards changes the point of contact between your foot and the machine, relieving the existing nerve pressure. Alternate between forward/backward pedaling every 10 minutes, or as often as you need to.
Step4
TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT. There are many different ways to benefit from cardio training. Try running, biking or swimming, indoor or outdoor. These activities will freshen up your routine and are sure to keep your feet awake!
