How to lose weight. No, really.

How many times have you looked at yourself in the mirror and thought "Oh, God. I need to drop a few pounds." ? I think we are all guilty of it. Luckily, there really IS a solution. You just have to want it badly enough. This is really easy. If you can't commit to it, then you don't want it badly enough.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • "Can do" attitude
Step1
Put down the cookies.
Step2
Stop trying to wish away the fat. As my grandmother says, "It ain't goin' no where, sweetheart."
Step3
Put on or purchase some workout-esque clothing that makes you feel good. (This is actually a really important step. It allows you to fulfill your little Hedonist inside :))
Step4
Load your iPod up with tunes that make you want to break out in dance. I like "Vogue" and "Die Another Day" by Madonna, "Love Today" by Mika, "Edit" by Regina Spektor, even some Britney Spears if necessary :)
Step5
Put on your walking shoes and just go for a walk. I left that part open for interpretation on purpose. You don't have to follow a strict routine, or even go for a certain amount of time. Just go. There are no expectations, no one to impress.
Step6
Once your are out and about, really take in how such a small activity can do so much for your body. For the first week, try going for a small walk everyday, just to get into the habit. I know, I know, you're busy/lazy/don't want to/don't feel good, I am all those things too! But hey, we've all got at least 10 minutes in a day. If not, you might want to reconsider your career choice (but that's for another ehow article :)).

Now, before you all leave comments on how this is dumb and not effective, just remember, you have your own timeline and you're in charge of what happens. You may not lose 20 pounds in the first week like the Hollywood Diet, but this will prove to be the start of something b-e-a-u-tiful.

Tips & Warnings

  • Even if you are a skinny unhealthy person, you should take this activity up. Your heart will thank you.
  • Take things easy for the first week. The point is to accustom yourself to walking every day, not so you wake up the next day in pain.
  • As always, when in doubt, consult your physician.
