How to Defeat Dr. Steinman in Bioshock
The maniacal Dr. Steinman is the first "mini-boss" you'll come across in Bioshock. He's not too hard, but can be tricky if you rush blindly into him. Fortunately, he's far from invincible and a few simple tricks will have you looting his corpse in record time.

Enter through the right-hand door, then head down into the water. This will take you to a safe that you can hack for several Medkits, as well as a Health Recharge Station.

Hack the Health Recharge Station. Steinman is one of few enemies in the game who will actually use the Health Recharge Station to heal himself. If you hack it, it will poison him instead of healing him!

Lead him toward the water. Shooting Electro Bolt at a Splicer standing in water works wonders, right? Same applies here.

Light him up. A little Incinerate will either kill him, stop him from shooting you or drive him toward the water. Or it may do all three. However you slice it, it's a good thing.

Use your Machine Gun on him. If you've incinerated, electrocuted and poisoned him there probably isn't much left. In case he's still breathing, finish him off with a few bursts from the Machine Gun.

Enjoy the loot! Make sure to check all over his room, some of the loot likes to hide.
