How to Catch a Fly with your Bare Hands

Just can't stand that pesky little fly any more? You are not alone! Fortunately, you don't have to have something nearby to swat it with, and you don't have to scramble over the furniture to catch it. Read on to find out more.

Things You’ll Need:

• quick reflexes
• a steady hand
• a fly

1. Wait until the fly is on a flat, level surface. One you get good at this, you can do it on a verical or inclined flat surface, or sometimes even on a window ledge!
2. Very slowly place your hand behind the fly, no more than six inches away. Make sure your hand rests on the surface of whatever the fly has landed on.
3. Very quickly sweep your hand straight toward the fly and close your hand quickly as soon as you make contact with it. Do not stop your arm swing until your arm comes up across your chest (flies are very fast, but you can be much faster).
4. Take your prize outside and impress your friends with your new "superpower" when you let it go!

Tips & Warnings

• This will not work if the fly will not stay still or if you cannot hold your balance.
• This will only work if your hand is directly behind the fly; when a fly takes off, it always flies backwards so in essence it will fly directly into your hand.
• You may not always feel the fly in your hand; this does not mean you didn't catch it.
• Always release your fly outdoors, after you close the door/window, or you will have to start all over!
• Flies have germs and other bacteria all over them. Always wash your hands after catching your fly.
• Never attempt this in an area where property could potentially be damaged if you miss you fly or use too much force!
