Things You'll Need:
- Old Clothes
- Pumpkins
- Candles
- Straw
- Old Towels and Sheets
-
Step 1
Gather a complete outfit for your scarecrow. Use either woman or man's clothing and even a child's. You will need a complete outfit, so don't forget the gloves, hat and shoes.
-
Step 2
Stuff the shirt and pants and/or dress with old towels and or sheets. Stuff them to full capacity. Ball one towel up as the head and then cover it with a pillow case and tie it at one end and then stuff the remaining ends into the shirt. If you would rather use a pumpkin as a head see the tips below. First put the pants (leggings if using a woman) on a chair, stack of hay, or bench. Add the shirt or dress. Arrange the two parts so that they look realistic. Prop the arm or leg in different poses. Then add the pillowcase head.
-
Step 3
Stuff the pant legs into boots and stuff the long sleeve of the shirt or dress into gloves. Put the mask over the pillowcase head.
-
Step 4
Make the scarecrow welcoming by adding a happy Halloween mask or make it scary by adding a scary Halloween mask, pumpkin head, fake cob webs and spiders. Put pumpkins all around the greeter.
You can make a whole scene by having the greeter drinking from a glass, watching an old movie or reading a book.
