Face Paint

Do you need to paint your child's face for Halloween, a play or just for fun? Here is an easy to make homemade recipe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 tsp cold cream
  • 1/2 cup container
  • 1/2 tsp water
  • Different colors of food coloring
  1. Step 1

Mix cornstarch, cold cream, water. Add enough drops of food coloring to make the color vivid in a cup.

  2. Step 2

If you’re making several different colors then have more cups available so that you can mix them in their own cups, one by one.

  3. Step 3

Stir well and add more cornstarch if too runny. To make it super creamy and easier to stir you can use a mixer or a blender.

  4. Step 4

You can use small brushes or q-tips to make decorations with the paint, like stripes for a cat or small flowers. Use your imagination and skills to paint a small fairy or unicorn. Add a little glitter for an extra sweet touch.

  5. Step 5

For adults use white as the background and pale neutral colors and draw swirls and vines and accent with glitter.

Tips & Warnings
  • When your child is done celebrating make sure they wash off as soon as they get home.
  • Food coloring can stain.

on 11/16/2009 I'm a professional face painter and can state with certainty those pictures were done with professional, cosmetic quality paints, such as Snazaroo, Wolfe, Diamond FX, or Ben Nye, NOT the homemade junk in articles such as this one. Further, only COSMETIC grade glitter should be used on skin. It's available for about a buck a pop at Sally Beauty Supply. Craft glitter is cut in a shape similar to a STOP sign, creating corners that irritate skin and can do significant damage to eyes, specifically by scratching the cornea. PLEASE think carefully about what you put on a child's face!!
