Things You'll Need:
- Yourself
- A fine-tip permanent marker
- Something you wish to have signed
- A baseball game
-
Step 1
Get to know the ballparkThe first thing that you are going to need to do is scout the ballpark out. Whether you do this during a game, a festival, or a different time, it doesn't matter. Find places where you know players will pass, such as the dugout, certain hallways or outside, a place they come out of after the game.
-
Step 2
Once you have picked these places out, position yourself near them at certain times. These times will probably vary according to the ballpark, the place or team that you support. One of the best times to do this, I have found, is after a game. More often than not, the team I support comes out after games to a certain place and signs stuff. It is kind of cool.
-
Step 3
The next and final step is to wait and get the autograph. This could be awhile as many times the players take different routes to avoid waiting fans. Also, when you ask for an autograph, be polite and say nice to meet you. Don't crowd them or shout at them and scream "I ADORE YOU!!!!!". This will only keep them farther away from you.
-
Step 4
Another place to get autographs is at a festival. Many teams have team festivals every year before the baseball season. This is to bring in money and promote team spirit. They will almost always have set up a autograph session. All you need to do is get there at the times they are appearing. Some good advice for this is too show up almost 1 1/2 hours early because there is sure to be a line.
-
Step 5
Congratulations......You now are the proud owner of a valuable signature.

on 4/19/2009 Very nice article on getting autographs at a baseball game. I think players tend to sign for kids more these days.

on 10/28/2008 There is a guy in California that has not only obtained 1000's of autographs but he has also caught over 4850 baseballs at professional baseball games over the past 30 some odd years. He has also acquired a lot of game used stuff too!
He has recently written a book and you can find that book here http://www.lulu.com/content/4567090
It is actually a pretty good read and he even tells stories on some of his most memorable baseball catches. The thing that I liked most was the fact that he gave insight on how to plan your entire day at the ballpark from getting there at Noon or 1 to get autographs of players coming into the stadium to getting autographs after the stadium closes!
Check it out!
