Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- House
- Computer
- Rental Agreement (optional, but recommended)
- Camera (optional)
Step1
Decide if renting out your home is for you:
-Where will you stay while it is being rented out (can you stay at a family or friends home)?
-Do you want to take the risk of someone else staying at your home that possibly does not have the care and regard for it that you have?
-Do you have a place to store your personal belongings that must be removed before they arrive?
If you answered 'yes' to the questions above then this is probably for you. Proceed to step 2. If you answered 'no' to most of the questions above then this probably isn't for you.
Step2
Determine the following:
-What days will your place be available?
-For how much? Rent and deposit?
-Any other necessary terms?
Step3
Place an ad for your home! Since the people who will be interested in renting are generally going to be from out of town, it would be smart to place an ad online (craigslist.com, which is a free site and you can search Google for many more free sites) or in an out of town publication. Additionally, there are some specific Superbowl sites that you can post your ad on:
Optional: Most online sites allow you to ad pictures to your ad. If you are comfortable with doing this, take some pictures of your home with a digital camera and then add the picture files to your ad (they will tell you where to do this).
Step4
Respond to inquires and carefully interview those interested.
