Cleaning the grease from the protective filter on your stove's exhaust fan can be difficult because of its textured metal surface. Here's a method for removing the grease that doesn't require any elbow grease!

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • An automatic dishwasher, perferably with a Pots & Pans cycle.

Step1
Remove the protective filter from your exhaust fan above your cooking stove.
Step2
Place the filter in the dishwasher with your other dishes. The hot water of the automatic dishwasher will dissolve the grease without you having to scrub the filter.
Step3
If the filter contains a lot of grease, use the Pots & Pan cycle on the dishwasher. When dry, put cleaned filter back in place on the exhaust fan.

Tips & Warnings

  • The automatic dishwasher won't harm a glass or plastic light lens if it is attached to the stove fan filter.
