Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Now this article is written knowing that there are several designs of rimless glasses on the market and I cannot accurately tell one how to fix theirs without knowing the exact model. Look this one over and then if it is not the right model, there is a link at the end of the article for more information.
Remove the broken wire by carefully unscrewing the side screws that anchor the wire in place.
Step2
Now measure the piece of wire or pieces of wire. (Presumably it has broken which is why you are reading this article.) Now take the measurement to your local craft store such as Michaels or AC Moore and purchase the needed amount plus one inch for extra. The diameter of the wire should be around 0.5 mm.
Step3
Now if you study the drawing here you can see how the two side anchors come apart with screws. Open them up and then unscrew the tiny tension screws on the side.
Step4
Now wrap the wire around the lens to measure. Insert one end of the wire into the bottom half of the anchor, tightening the tension screw until it holds snug. Do the same thing to the other half of the anchor - tightening until snug.
Step5
Wrap the wire up and around the edge of the lens - working on a cloth covered surface. Bring both halves of the anchor together and using the top screws tighten them loosely. It will take a few trial and errors to work with the tension screws and the anchor screws to get to the desired tension. Be patient!
Step6
Now clip off the extra wire and rub it down smooth with an emery board.
