Every cooked a holiday ham, cassarole or some BBQ ribs and are left with a black, sticky mess? There's no need to scrub all night or toss the dish..there is a SIMPLE solution!!
Fill baking dish with water and set on stove with flame/electric setting to HIGH
Step2
After water is at a rolling boil, turn temperature down and immediately add 2 TBLS of baking soda
Step3
Allow soda water to simmer for 15-20 minutes. Turn off heat source and let stand for 1 hour....grime will just wash away!!
Tips & Warnings
Do not fill water to top of the dish. When adding soda to boiling water, a foam will be created and will rise approximately 1 inch and then subside...be prepared :-)

WOW! I have used this technique hundreds of times over 15 years as well as my mom, sisters, aunts and numerous friends and NEVER have had anything remotely close to this happening!! Maybe the integrity of your dish was already compromised?? Sorry this didn't work out for you!

DON'T DO THIS UNLESS YOU ENJOY CLEANING UP SHARDS OF GLASS FROM MOST OF YOUR KITCHEN!!! My Pyrex baking dish exploded before the water began to boil! So, on top of the mess that took about 1.5 hours to clean-up, my beautiful new gas stove no longer works.Luckily, I was wearing glasses and long sleeves and slacks and only suffered a couple of splinters in the clean-up. I did have to throw away a couple of side-dishes that were sitting uncovered on the counter. What a waste, it would have been much cheaper to just throw them away and buy new, the cost of the food alone would have made it more cost effective to just replace the glass baking dishes.
