Are you in the market for a new double stroller? This article will help you chose the perfect twin stroller.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Make a list of the things you are looking for in a twin stroller.

  2. Step 2

Do you do plan to do a lot of shopping with your stroller?

If yes, a large basket with easy access is very important

  3. Step 3

Front to Back (Tandem) Stroller or Side By Side Stroller?

Front to back works very well when shopping indoors.
Side by side is generally easier to maneuver and push

  4. Step 4

Are you planning on storing this stroller in the trunk of your car?

This is important because double strollers can be very large even when folded. Not all strollers will fit in all trunks. (I know this one from experience)

  5. Step 5

How important is the weight of the stroller?

Will you be lifting it in and out of your car often?
Will you be pushing it long distances?
Will the grandparents be using this stroller?

Even a difference of 5 pounds is noticeable when you are pushing two children.

  6. Step 6

    Is color important to you?

Will this be for girls, boys, or both?
Are you planning to have any more children in the future?
(Red often fades to a lovely shade of pink - yuck!)

  7. Step 7

Will you be flying with this stroller?

You should be able to fold a stroller with one hand if you are planning on flying with it alone. Otherwise, you are going to have to rely on the kindness of others and ask for help.

  8. Step 8

Will you be snapping in infant car seats?

Not all double strollers have this option and not all double strollers that have this option will have it available for both seats. If you have twins, this will be especially important.

  9. Step 9

Are the seat covers removable and washable?

Children are especially messy and there is no way getting around that! Two children, twice the mess.

  10. Step 10

How long are you planning on keeping this stroller?

Not all brands have warrantees and not all have replacement parts.

  11. Step 11

    Your budget.

Generally, you get what you pay for but in some instances, that's not true. Find a name brand with in your budget. There may be a very good reason why you never heard of the brand you've been looking at. Saving money initially may not sound so great when you have to replace it down the road.

  12. Step 12

Shop on line at all the big retailers of baby strollers. Compare on line before you spend the time running from one shop to the next. Buying a stroller is a big ticket item and you should be sure that you love it. Especially if you are a stay at home mom and will be using it every day. You could say that its definitely an investment in your sanity!

Tips & Warnings
  • Purchase a ran shield and a bug net if your stroller does not come with one. They are generally in expensive.
  • The bigger the wheels, the better the ride over bumps and hills.
  • Imagine yourself sitting in that seat, would you be comfortable? Can you put your feet up?
  • A fully reclining seat is nice for diaper changes on the go.
  • Kids will fight no matter what you do or where you go. A front to back stroller helps to eliminate some of this - but not all!
  • If you buy inflatable tires, they will go flat eventually, buy a pump as well.
  • Never buy your stroller from internet sight unseen. Always check it out at a local retailer first.

Make sure to try out the stroller with your children before you purchase it! We bought a tandem stroller before our 2nd child was born and it was a nightmare! No storage with the carrier! It was also impossible for both of our children to fit with the infant carrier attached!
