How to Use Picture Layout in Adobe Photoshop

Combining images and changing the picture layout of photos in Adobe Photoshop can be done quickly and easily with a couple of Photoshop tools. It's important when combining photos to plan your picture layout beforehand, so your new creation doesn't look too cluttered or off-balance. Follow the steps below to combine, zoom and move photos in your picture layout.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    Start Adobe Photoshop, and open two photos from your files into Photoshop.

  2. Step 2

    Use the Marquee tool from the Photoshop toolbox to select the area of the photo that you want to copy and paste on top of the other photo.

  3. Step 3

    Choose "Edit" from the "Copy" menu to copy the area.

  4. Step 4

    Select the other photo by clicking on the title bar and selecting "Paste" from the "Edit" menu. You should now have the section of the first photo you copied pasted on top of the second photo.

  5. Step 5

    Select the Magnifier tool from the Photoshop toolbox and zoom into the pasted portion of the photo.

  6. Step 6

    Choose the Hand tool from the Photoshop toolbox to move around the combined images while your view is zoomed.

  7. Step 7

    Use the Move tool from the Photoshop toolbox to make any adjustments to your pasted photo.

Tips & Warnings
  • The Marquee tool is the top left tool in the Photoshop toolbox.
  • The Magnifier tool is the tool that has a picture of a magnifying glass.
  • The Hand tool is the tool that is a picture of a hand.
  • Use the "H" key on your keyboard to quickly change to the hand tool.
