Step 1
Acquire at least two bait carriers: one being a tackle box for any and all non-live bait you will be using, the other being a cooler or refrigerated unit to store all of the live bait you will use.
-
Step 2
Label the live bait containers clearly. Write the types of live bait on the lids using a magic marker. Make sure the print is large, bold, and legible. This way, a simple glance will be all that is needed to locate your live bait of choice.
-
Step 3
House your non-live bait in a roomy tackle box with plenty of shelves and compartments.
-
Step 4
Keep the tackle box bait in order by making groups that are specific to the fish you intend to catch. For example, bass fishing lures can be on one shelf, pike fishing lures can go on the next shelf. This would be the adequate method for avid fishermen, but if you're a regular hobby fisherman, read on.

Step 5
Organize your tackle box by grouping like equipment together. Bobs on this shelf, scented rubber worms in this compartment, jars and canisters on the bottom, etc.
