Just a few years ago, sharing media over the Internet was but a pipe dream. The files were too big and the transfer rate too slow. Then BitTorrent software arrived and changed everything. Now sharing large files are very user friendly and simple. Uploading BitTorrent files is just a few clicks away.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Select a BitTorrent web site to host the tracker of the BitTorrent file. Many web sites facilitate the transfer of BitTorrent files. Each has their own strengths and weaknesses.
Step2
Assign an announce url for the uploaded BitTorrent file. The announce URL is essentially a link to the file being shared. There are common announce urls that are listed in the dropdown box of the "Upload" utility. In addition, the host site from the previous step has some commonly used announce URLs. Some applications allow the user to choose their announce url. For a more detailed explanation of announce URLs please see the resources section.
Step3
Upload the BitTorrent file to shared server. See the FAQ section of the BitTorrent host selected. Each has their own set of steps to upload a file. Some require a user to register and be a member in good standing for a certain period before uploading is permitted.
Step4
Seed the uploaded BitTorrent file. Go to the web site or server that is facilitating the file sharing. Click on the link as if downloading the uploaded tracker. Select the file that contains the BitTorrent file created. The software will verify that file that file is complete, check the tracker and then begin seeding. Be sure to leave the file open and seeding long for others to download the file.
