Family game night is great for bringing parents and kids together for a night of fun. A favorite game for all ages is Phase 10 Dice. It's inspired by the popular card game, but with a twist. When playing Phase 10 Dice, you roll unique dice to try and complete each phase. Keep your fingers crossed that you don't get left behind.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Phase 10 Dice
  • Score pad
  1. Step 1

Roll one of the dice numbered five to 10 to see who goes first. The player who rolls the highest number plays first.

  2. Step 2

Designate a score keeper. Each player should have his own column on the score pad. It's easiest to keep track of scores if you write the player's name at the top of his respective column.

  3. Step 3

Determine the difference in a set, a run and other terms on your required phases. You have a set when you roll several dice with the same number. You have a run when you roll consecutive numbers on the dice. All one color means all the dice you roll should be the same color. Even wilds that you roll must be the right color.

  4. Step 4

Roll all ten dice and set aside any dice that you wish to keep to help you complete your phase. Roll the remaining dice, once again setting aside the dice that you believe will help you. Roll a third time and evaluate your roll in relation to the phase you're on. You are allowed to change your mind about the dice you wish to keep as you progress through these rolls.

  5. Step 5

Calculate your score from your three rolls. You only receive points if you successfully complete the phase. To calculate your score, add the total of all the dice used to complete that particular phase.

  6. Step 6

Once your turn is over, it's time for the next player to roll. Each player gets three rolls. This process continues through the rest of the game.

  7. Step 7

Add forty bonus points after phase five to any player whose score is 221 or more.

  8. Step 8

Be the first to successfully complete all ten phases with the highest score, and you can call yourself the winner.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you complete a phase in one or two rolls, you might want to keep rolling for the rest of your turn to try and replace any wild dice you might have rolled. Wild dice do not count towards your point total, so this could be a valuable opportunity to add much needed points.
  • Each player has one more chance to get more points once someone completes all ten phases. The first player to finish all ten phases receives forty bonus points as well as any other player who completes all ten phases during that same turn.
