PFLAG is an organization for parents, families and friends of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered people. The organization was founded in 1972 by Jeanne Manford whose gay son was beaten during a gay rights protest. The police did nothing. Today, there are over 200,000 PFLAG members and supporters.
