Things You'll Need:
- Ionizer wires for your model of air cleaner
- Needle nose pliers
- Screwdriver
- Electrical contact cleaner
-
Step 1
Open your air cleaner to locate the ionizer wires. You may have to unscrew the top cover of your cleaner depending on your model of air cleaner.
-
Step 2
Unhook the old wires, and clean the contacts with contact cleaner.
-
Step 3
Hook the loop on an end of the new wire over the cell's spring connection.
-
Step 4
Use needle nosed pliers to hold the other eyelet. Stretch the new wire fully over the cell.
-
Step 5
Press down the other spring connector, and loop the hook over it.
-
Step 6
Use an ohmmeter to check to make sure there aren't any short circuits.
-
Step 7
Look at the cell's frame and the ionizer. Check their resistance. Also make sure the contacts are clean. If they aren't, clean them with contact cleaner. Cover the top panel of your ionizer wires, and plug in your air cleaner.
