Christine, you are so right on. I agree with you in saying that kids do not choose that life, they are usually running away from something and need protection or need feel wanted and loved.

You have to live and survive that life in order walk away from that life. A lot of teenagers are drawn into that life not by choice but by the option of survival. But those who do survive walk away a different person. CG

Gangs are a product of the community. The kids don't choose that life, it's where they live and the means of which they have to adapt. They can't stay inside all day and not have friends. Also the parents have to let them know that they are there for them and understand the life that comes with the home that they provide.
