For a long time, it was hard to see Mexican TV shows outside of Mexico, unless you happened to have a Spanish-language station in your area. But in recent years, many classic Mexican "telenovelas" and comedy shows have been released on DVD.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Explore Amazon first, see Resources below.

  2. Step 2

Search under "DVD" for key words "Mexican Television," if you are looking for telenovelas or comedy shows such as "El Chavo del 8," "El Chapulin Colorado" or "Los Beverly de Peralvillo." These two words alone will yield more results than if you add the word "shows."

  3. Step 3

Enter the key word "Chespirito," if you are looking for this show. It won't come up if you search under "Mexican Television."

  4. Step 4

Register and use your credit card to purchase your DVDs.

  5. Step 5

Try the Mexican company Alter Films, if you have trouble finding what you are looking for on Amazon. See Resources below.

Tips & Warnings
  • Most DVD releases of the telenovelas have been severely edited. Telenovelas, when originally broadcast, are long miniseries spanning dozens of hours over four to nine months. For the DVD versions, the story has been pared down in most cases to seven to 12 hours to fit on two to four DVDs.
  • Complete runs of the classic Mexican comedy shows are not currently available on DVD. For now, you will have to settle for "Best of..." compilations.
