If you've come this far, you realize that child slavery is something that not only hasn't disappeared, it continues on with great strength, even in the United States. Putting a stop to such a criminal act is important for us all, though the task is extremely challenging. The results of such attempts have not been heartening, but there is a way to continue the fight.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Study the issue and come to a realization of its global scope. As with other incidences of abuse, child slavery is one of those that is hidden in plain sight which makes it very difficult to stop outright.
Step2
Contact your local representatives and senators. Read up on the various pieces of legislation considered, past and present, by Congress. For any on the floor, call and add your voice to those who want to bring justice to those affected by child slavery.
Step3
Read the text of H. R. 2522, the bill introduced in Congress to create the Congressional Commission on the Abolition of Modern-day Slavery. This will give you a firm basis for understanding the issue and where the U. S. government stands. Call your member of Congress to lend your support to the bill.
Step4
Add your voice to any protests that you can become part of. To stop child slavery, it's necessary that many people come together to show that they are of one voice. Check news sources and blogs for any announcements of such protests.
Step5
Educate yourself and others around you about steps currently being taken. In addition to becoming familiar with bills before Congress, read books by knowledgeable authors such as Kevin Bale, president of Free the Slaves.
Step6
Keep your eyes and ears open, especially if you live in major cities that are likely destinations for imported children. Do not be afraid to report any strange situations to local authorities. Such a course of action can be risky, but if you want to make a difference, your voice must be heard.
Step7
Write to your local newspaper or prepare a spot for a local radio station. Get your facts together and make your voice heard by inspiring those around you to learn more about child slavery.
