How to Be Metal

Metal music is one of the few genres of music that is also its own culture. True metal fans are die hard in their love and passion for the music and some even take on the guise and styles of their favorite bands. Many people associate this look only with the hair bands of the 80s, but this is but a small fraction of the group.

Things You’ll Need:

• Metal albums

1. Listen to metal and like it. That may be the easiest way to go about becoming metal. If you enjoy metal music, then it's possible you already fit into whatever cultural guise is considered metal. If not, the path you take while falling in love with this musical genre may lead you there.
2. Talk to people who are fervent enthusiasts of metal. There is no way to understand someone, or a group of people, without any firsthand discourse.
3. Show your metal love. If you are at all ashamed of loving metal music, then you're not truly metal.
4. Recognize posers, those truly annoying people who latch on to what they think is the coolest fad. They're the type who forget the metal spirit five minutes after they claim to be huge metal fans. Know these people and avoid them.
5. Be able to recognize true metalians.
6. Play Iron Maiden's album "Ed Hunter" straight through to the end. If you make it through in one piece, you've got a good shot.
