If your child has a favorite stuffed animal that has been torn open, you don't have to throw it away. Instead, you can repair the doll so that it's as good as new. Use the information below to restitch a stuffed animal.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Replace or add any stuffing inside the animal if it's needed.

  2. Step 2

Thread a needle. Choose a thread color that matches the color of the stuffed animal.

  3. Step 3

Start at one end of the hole and insert the needle from the inside to the outside. Once you pull the needle through, the knot at the end of the thread will end up inside the animal.

  4. Step 4

Find a spot about an eighth of an inch over from where the thread was inserted. This is where you'll begin stitching. Stitch down the length of the hole, switching back and forth between sides of the tear. In other words, you will complete one stitch on the left side of the tear, followed by one stitch on the right side, then back to the left side and so forth.

  5. Step 5

Continue to alternate stitches down each side of the tear until you've reach the other end. All of your stitches should be about an eighth of an inch long. Pull the threat tight so the fabric hides the seam that you have just sewn.

  6. Step 6

Make a loop with the thread, then pull the needle through the loop. Pull tightly and the thread will form a small knot next to the fabric of the stuffed animal.

  7. Step 7

Insert the needle next to the knot and pull it out on the other side of the seam. Pull the thread all the way through, then cut off the excess thread.
