The Christian music scene is hot right now and growing faster than most other sectors of the music industry. If you want to be a part of it by becoming a Christian singer, here are some steps to get you on the right track.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Spend time in prayer and ask for God to show you where God wants you to go with this music that is ultimately from God. Whether you're glorifying God at your local church or God takes you to the big stage, get ready for a ride that's a blast.

  2. Step 2

Listen to as much variety of Christian music as you can get your hands on. Take in some Casting Crowns, Natalie Grant, Matt Redman, Michael Card, CeCe Wynans, Mandy Mann and Sara Groves.

  3. Step 3

Decide what sub-genre of Christian music suits your style best. Do you lean more towards Christian contemporary, Christian rock or rap, gospel or southern gospel? Embrace your own style and go for it.

  4. Step 4

Attend Christian concerts, then hang around afterward to meet your favorite singer and the rest of the band. Many Christian singers perform at smaller venues such as churches and love to talk to their fans.

  5. Step 5

Sing as often as you get the opportunity. Start singing solos at your church, other churches or local coffeehouses. Just put yourself out there.

  6. Step 6

Find someone who can accompany you on guitar or piano if you don't have a band. It's much easier to find one talented Christian guitarist and build a band than to put together a whole ensemble at once. Start small and develop your talent from there.

  7. Step 7

Go to praise and worship services regularly. See if they have room for one more singer on their stage, if you're interested in joining a band. You'll learn the ropes of being part of a band as you're finding your voice, and stay in fellowship with other believers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Visit a Christian bookstore to purchase popular voice tracks that you can sing along with for performances. Many tracks are available in three different keys to suit your vocal range.
