Working on a presidential campaign can be fun, and is also a great way to involve yourself in your country's political process. Volunteering to work on a presidential campaign can get you up close and personal to how exciting politics can really be. But you just can't show up at the door of a candidate's office. There are a few tips on how to get on a campaign--here are some of them.

From Quick Guide: Get Political
Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Contact the local presidential campaign office of the candidate whom you want to work for. The websites for most presidential candidates offer a volunteer form that you can fill out, which will allow a campaign representative to contact you about the opportunities that they have available. You can help make a case for yourself by telling the representative what your strengths are and how you can help during the campaign.

  2. Step 2

Go to the presidential campaign office during your volunteer hours. You will use this time to help get the word out to the local constituents about how great your candidate is and why they should vote for him/her. Much of the work will involve making phone calls, putting together signs and making arrangements on a local level. You should expect to work more hours as the election nears and draws to a close. The candidate may visit the local area during this time and it will be a very busy for the local office.

  3. Step 3

Meet with your colleagues on the night of the election to watch the vote and to celebrate if your candidate wins. This is the best part about volunteering to help with the campaign, especially if your candidate is victorious. Remember that you will have to clean up after the watch party and help take everything down, so don't make other plans directly after the party.
