Step 1
Use the "10-33" CB radio code only if there is an emergency and you need immediate assistance. If you need a tow truck or mechanical assistance, don't use the "10-33" CB radio code. Instead, use the "10-34" or "10-37" radio codes. 10-34 means trouble at this station and 10-37 means you need a wrecker or tow truck.
-
Step 2
Interrupt other CB operators if you have an emergency. Ask for a "break" and tell them you have a "10-33" and name the location. Make sure you give specific directions to your location using highway numbers, mile markers and the direction traveled.
-
Step 3
Ask for assistance, depending on the type of emergency. If you're on a sinking boat, ask for local assistance if you are close to shore. If you are further out, ask for the Coast Guard.
-
Step 4
Report a vehicle fire by using the "10-33" CB radio code. Report the specific location of the vehicle and ask for emergency fire assistance.
-
Step 5
Ask for emergency response vehicles by using the "10-33" CB radio code if you are involved in an accident. The emergency response vehicles dispatched will include fire trucks, ambulances and paramedics. Specify the type of accident, the location of the accident and any injuries.

on 5/30/2009 Wait a moment there bucko...I have been a CB user, for more than 30 years and I have NEVER heard anyone say 10-33 except in the movies. What you are going to get if you call 10-33 is a lot of people asking you just what the heck you think you are doing. And I am willing to bet you will die of starvation before you get an emergency response vehicle by calling it on the CB.In an emergency the BEST thing to do is USE STANDARD ENGLISH. If your car or truck is on fire say "Help my truck is on fire, someone call 911." And be sure to give your location.Have you ever even used a CB?
