Tips & Warnings
  • When throwing a jab with one hand, keep the other hand up at cheekbone level, ready to protect your chin.
  • The left jab is the punch that is used most often in boxing. The primary purpose of the jab is to keep your opponent at a distance and set him up for a power shot, such as a right cross.
  • When throwing a jab or any other punch, never lead with your elbow. Your elbow shouldn't project out from your body during a punch.
  • If you are throwing a left jab, keep the right hand up at cheekbone level so it is ready to protect your chin.
