The corpse pose, a resting position, is key to the successful practice of yoga. The corpse pose should be used at the end of each yoga session to bring your body to full relaxation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Yoga mat
  1. Step 1

Once you have finished your yoga session, return to the floor. Lie down, face up with your knees bent. Gently extend your legs and allow them to fall to the side. Keep practicing your yoga breathing.

  2. Step 2

Extend your hands to either side of your body, palms upright. Close your eyes and keep breathing.

  3. Step 3

Begin to fully relax the body. Starting at the top of your head, release the tension, all the way down to your toes.

  4. Step 4

Keep inhaling and exhaling. This pose is meant to end your yoga session so how long you keep it is entirely up to you and your body. Try to hold it for at least 5 minutes.

  5. Step 5

When you feel ready, roll over to your side, bending your knees and bringing them up to your chest. Lie in this position for about 2 minutes.

  6. Step 6

Return to the sitting position and your yoga session is completed.

Tips & Warnings
  • Continuously practice your yoga breathing, allowing your belly to move away from your spine on the inhale and return inward on the exhale.
