Step 1
Take a few steps back from the shot. This will afford you a better view of the whole table so you can see where the cue ball is in relation to your target ball and the hole.
-
Step 2
Line up your shot. You can line up your shot easier from a few steps back because you have a better overview of the line. Use your cue stick to aim your line.
-
Step 3
Step up into your shot. Once you have your line, come closer to the table and stand with your feet shoulder-width apart. Stand comfortably and make sure that your stance is sturdy so that you won't wobble around.
-
Step 4
Select the best bridge to use for the situation. Make sure that you can comfortably make the bridge with enough room to take your shot.
-
Step 5
Lean down over your shot. You want to lean down enough that you are looking over your cue stick at the shot kind of like aiming a gun. Try not to take shots while standing upright.
-
Step 6
Center your head above your stick. Make sure that you get a good view of your line so that you can best execute your shot. Keep your head perpendicular to the ground, as tilting it slightly left or right can throw off your line.
-
Step 7
Slide the cue through your bridge hand a few times to be sure that your stance and bridge choice will work well for the shot.
