A V step right and left combines two basic aerobic V steps. Adding this move increases the difficulty of your routine. Here's how it works.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Step bench
  1. Step 1

Stand forward facing the bench. Place your feet together about a foot away from the bench.

  2. Step 2

Step heel first onto the bench with your right foot. Step as wide as possible onto the bench without overstepping the edge of the bench.

  3. Step 3

Follow with your left. Place the left foot wide onto the step bench, making a "V" with your legs.

  4. Step 4

Step back to the floor with your right foot, toe first. Follow with the left foot but don't settle that foot on the floor. Instead, tap the left toe next to the right foot and immediately step back onto the bench with the left foot.

  5. Step 5

Step up with your right foot and land wide on the bench. Alternate your lead legs by tapping the new lead leg to switch. For example, step up with your right foot, followed by your left. Step down with your right, bring your left foot down and tap and start over, stepping up with your left.

  6. Step 6

Add arm movements once you've mastered the V-step right and left movements. For example, circle your arms above your head as you step up.

Tips & Warnings
  • Look down at the step platform occasionally to gauge where your feet are touching the platform.
