The Straddle step is performed in many step aerobics routines to add variety. The opposite foot positioning increases the move's difficulty. Here's how to employ the straddle in your step regimen.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Aerobics bench
  1. Step 1

Center yourself beside the bench while facing sideways. If your right foot is nearest the bench, then your right leg is your lead leg.

  2. Step 2

Step up with your lead leg onto the platform. Place the heel down first, followed by the toe, and then step your left foot onto the bench.

  3. Step 3

Step down and backwards with the right foot on the right side of the bench. Then step down the left foot to the left side of the bench. Now your body straddles the step aerobics bench.

  4. Step 4

Step back onto the bench with your left foot, followed by the right, placing both feet on the bench again. Step back down to the left side with your left foot. Then step down to the left side of the bench with your right foot. Finish with both feet together on the ground.

  5. Step 5

Practice the straddle move by joining a step aerobics class at a local gym such as Lifetime Fitness.
