Step aerobics involves a variety of steps or moves at various difficulty levels. The Over the Top exercise includes a sideways starting point and stepping from the front and back of the bench. These guidelines can help you to learn the moves.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Aerobics bench
  1. Step 1

Stand beside the bench and face sideways. Your lead foot, right or left, should be closest to the step platform.

  2. Step 2

Step onto the bench, heel first, with the lead foot then follow with the other foot. Stand on top of the step bench with both feet facing sideways.

  3. Step 3

Step down to the opposite side of the bench from where you began. Step down first with the lead foot, toe to heel. Then step the other foot down. Both feet are on the ground and you've gone over the top of the bench. Your left foot should closest to the bench if your right leg was the original lead leg.

  4. Step 4

Add arm movements to intensify the Over the Top move. The Basketball Shoot is compatible with this move. Lift both arms up and flip your hands at the wrist, as if you were shooting a basketball, as you step up and over the bench.
