Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Step aerobics bench
  1. Step 1

Stand centered facing your step bench, about 6 to 12 inches from the step. You should be close enough so that you can comfortably step onto the bench without overextending your hips or knees.

  2. Step 2

Step up onto the bench with your right foot. Place your entire foot, heel first, on the bench. Don't stomp or step too hard onto the bench; you can injure your knee.

  3. Step 3

Bring the left foot onto the bench. Stand straight on the bench with both feet together.

  4. Step 4

Step off the platform with your right foot. Land your foot a comfortable distance from the step, placing the toe on the ground first followed by the heel. Bring the left foot down to the ground, toe first.

  5. Step 5

Practice this basic step until you're comfortable performing it, and then add arm movements. Swing your arms, slightly bent at the elbows, forward when you step up and swing them back down as you step down.
