The Tap Up aerobic exercise is a variation of the Basic Right to Left step aerobic exercise, with a tap included on one of the steps instead of a full step. Here's how to execute it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Position yourself in front of a step aerobic platform so that your feet are together and your toes point toward the center of the long side of the platform.

  2. Step 2

Step up onto the platform with your right foot. Bring your left foot onto the platform, and tap it with your toes.

  3. Step 3

Set your left foot back down on the floor behind you and follow with your right foot.

  4. Step 4

Alternate to working the other side by stepping up with your left foot, tapping with your right, stepping down with your right and stepping down with your left.

  5. Step 5

Perform this exercise to upbeat music for a fast-paced workout. Mix and match starting with your right foot and left foot to create a routine.

Tips & Warnings
  • Maintain good posture while performing step aerobics. Keep your chest high with your upper body relaxed, and keep your abs tight.
  • Lean forward only slightly while doing step aerobics. Flex your knees but never more than 90 degrees when stepping up.
  • Always remember to warm up and cool down before and after performing step aerobics.
  • Don't bow your head while performing step aerobics. If you need to look at your feet to see where you are stepping, just glance down for a second, but maintain a forward-facing head position.
